Make room for
the next big idea.
We believe every child deserves the chance to see themselves as someone who can imagine, create, and make things better.
Curiosity is
a place to start.
A box becomes a prototype. A question becomes an experiment. An unexpected result becomes a reason to try again.
Future Inventors of America is a home for hands-on invention activities and practical guidance for the adults who support young makers. Our purpose is simple: make inventive thinking feel approachable, joyful, and possible.
Start at the kitchen table, in a classroom, or wherever there is space to explore. The materials can be ordinary. The thinking doesn’t have to be.
More “what if?”
More “let’s try.”
More “I made that.”
Confidence grows when children get to make decisions, test their own ideas, and explain what they learned.
Big thinking.
Grounded in simple things.
Curiosity before certainty.
Questions are welcome here. Wondering why something happens is just as valuable as knowing an answer.
Progress before perfection.
A first version is a starting point. We look for what a test teaches us, then make one thoughtful improvement.
Every perspective belongs.
Different experiences lead to different ideas. There is room for the quiet observer, the enthusiastic builder, and everyone in between.
Real learning happens in the trying.
Our activities combine designing, making, observing, and explaining. Children practice choosing between ideas, using simple evidence, and working within a few constraints. There is no single finished product everyone has to copy.
Adults help create a safe workspace and ask useful questions. Kids keep ownership of the ideas. Together, they turn a small project into a conversation about how things work—and how they might work better.
Paper, clean cardboard, tape, and a pencil can be enough to begin. Adapt materials and steps to the child, the setting, and the support available.
